Four Tips To Capture More Playing Time…
What is the number one reason people quit and change teams? They aren’t playing. Parents don’t want to see all their time and hard earned money go to waste with their daughter sitting on the bench. These parents also don’t want their kid sitting and not getting the reps they need to become better
at the sport they love.
Now what if you love your team and you want to stay but you know she should be playing more and could really contribute as a team player if she got the opportunity? Your daughter loves the girls and loves the team. Do you wait it out, hoping for your chance or do you take matters into your own hands?
Here is four tips if you are wanting to be proactive.
Tip 1: SHOW UP EARLY TO EVERY SINGLE PRACTICE.
This is something that is super important. If your coach sees you committed to the team he or she is more likely to want to invest in you.
Tip 2: WHEN YOU ARE AT PRACTICE, PRACTICE 100% FROM START TO FINISH.
Line ups are made in practice. If a coach can see consistency in you on the field and in the cage at practice, he or she will be more likely to put you in the line up.
Tip 3: PRACTICE OUTSIDE OF PRACTICE AND LET THE COACH KNOW
It’s important if you are working hard outside of practice to let the coach know so they see your commitment to growing as an individual and player. They can also make a relationship with your outside trainer so all three can work as a team to help you progress faster.
Tip 4: GET ON THE SAME PAGE AS YOUR COACH
If you are wanting to start in the outfield every game but your coach sees you as a 2ndbasemen, there is a problem. You need to make sure your coach and you have a great line of communication so the both of you are working towards the same goals.
