The Five Easy Steps To Hitting
In this instructional video, Margo has broken down the swing into 5 steps to show the overall mechanics of a good fast pitch swing.
The Five Steps Of Hitting- The Load
In this instructional video, Margo covers the importance of loading your backside and your hands prior to starting your swing.
The Five Steps To Hitting- Knob,Knee, Contact
In this instructional video, Margo covers step three in the five step breakdown of the swing. This step starts the hands towards the ball with the back knee following. This step starts after the hitter loads her hips and hands together. This step is called Knob Knee to Contact.
The Five Steps Of Hitting-The Bat Extension And Finish
In this instructional video, Margo shows the importance of extending the bat after the ball has been contacted. Extending after the ball will create more power after contact.
The Three Aspects Of Hitting
In this instructional video, Margo talks about the three most important aspects of hitting, pitch selection, timing and technique.
Creating The Best Step For You At The Plate
In this instructional video, Margo uses a cone to go over the importance of having the correct step at the plate. You do not want to over stride or under stride when at the plate. Your stride should be comfortable and allows you to transfer your weight, create power and help get your hands through to the ball.
Hitting Your Contact Points With A Batting Tee
In this instructional video, Margo goes over the importance of working off the tee. More specifically using the tee to create different contact points around the plate.
“The Mat Drill” Getting The Bat Head To The Ball
This drill is focusing on the contact point of the swing. A hitter should be aware of the hand placement, level of bat and distance of hands from body at the point of the swing. A hitter will swing as hard as they can in this drill. If the bat head is below the hands, the hitter needs to focus on the bat head leading the swing to the mat. The back elbow of the hitter should be in a L shape, tucked into the side of the hitter. Make sure your hitter is applying her legs to her swing in the drill. We want the hitter to always load and drive the hips to contact in this drill.
Developing Quick Hands To The Ball
This instructional video focuses on quick hands to the ball. The tee is set high to give the hitter an idea of where the hands to travel first. The knob of the bat should hit the top half of the ball in a downwards motion. Be aware you hitter needs to load their swing before throwing their hands at the ball in this drill. This will help with timing of the swing as well. At contact of the ball in this drill the hitter should see the ball make full contact with the ball and the chest should be facing the ball. This drill is not about power or hitting the ball as hard as you can but muscle memory of the hand starting the swing and the direction of the hands.
Developing Bat Extension
In this instructional video, Margo demonstrates the Bat Toss Drill. This excellent drill specifically works on the extension of the bat after contact has been made.
The Bat Toss Drill
In this instructional video, Margo demonstrates how to implement the bat toss drill and improve the extension of your arms after contacting the ball.
The Baby Bat Hitting Drill
In this instructional video, Margo uses a smaller bat or baby bat to isolate both the right hand and the left hand. The left hand is used to pull the bat to the ball and the right hand is used to punch through the ball.
The Sandwich Drill
In this instructional video, Margo uses only her hands to work on generating the best path to the ball. This drill helps correct bat drag and right handed dominate swings.
The Double Ball Drill
In this instructional video, Margo uses two balls to simulate pulling with the left hand and punching with the right hand. This excellent drill does a good job of creating equal distribution of both the right and left hand.
“Back High Tee Drill” Correcting The Dropping Of The Hands
In this instructional video, Margo uses a tee placed at the back of the plate to help correct the dropping of the hands. This drill is used to generate the best path to the ball when hitting.
The Big Step Drill: Utilizing Your Legs When Hitting
In this instructional video, Margo discusses the importance of using your legs when hitting. Leg drive is very important in hitting and has to be implemented to create the power needed to drive the ball.
Bat Pop Drill-Developing A Quick Bat
In this instructional video, Margo uses the mat to demonstrate the Bat Pop Drill. This is a great drill to build good hand speed to the contact point, endurance and power to the ball.
Hitting Drill-Load Transfer And Weight Shift
In this video, Margo discusses the very important aspect of Load Transfer and Weight Shift when hitting the ball. It is important to stay tall and drive the backside and create the power to drive the ball.
Tracking The Ball Drill
In this instructional video, Margo uses the red, yellow and green plate to improve vision of the ball and pitch location. This is a progression drill using first just your vision, then a glove and then a bat.
